AT&T's contract with CBS expires for U-verse TV users

AT&T?s U-verse contract with CBS has reached the end of its line ? at least for now. The agreement that was formerly in place, providing U-Verse users with access to channels including Showtime and CBS Sports, expired at midnight June 30. Dallas-based AT&T (NYSE: T) released the following statement regarding its negotiations with CBS (NYSE: CBS). ?We continue in active, productive discussions with CBS to carry its programming,? AT&T spokesman Charles Bassett said in a prepared statement.?

Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) is teaming up with the Federal Railroad Administration in an effort to reduce the number of crashes involving trains and vehicles. The Internet giant will soon begin adding data about the nation?s 250,000 public and private railroad crossings to its Google Maps service. The idea is that Google Maps will be able to warn drivers when they are approaching a crossing, with the hope that they will use greater caution and avoid collisions. The N.C. New research says that New Yorkers are patient when it comes to waiting on hold when calling businesses. The study of 2,234 consumers, conducted by London, England-based audio branding specialist PH Media Group, said that 55 percent of New Yorkers are prepared to wait on hold for longer than one minute. The U.S. average is the same as New York, but the Northeast (57 percent) and the West (56 percent) are a bit more willing to wait longer than 60 seconds.
